Andy Warhol Archival Film Series: Tarzan and Jane Regained / Blow Job – 16mm prints!

    September 22, 2017

    16mm/ 1963 / 80 minutes

Many of Warhol’s 1960s films reflect the influence of movies he watched in Oakland cinemas when he was a child in 1930s Pittsburgh. Tarzan and Jane Regained… Sort Of, one of his earliest films, is a Warholian take on jungle adventure films and features Superstar Taylor Mead and Naomi Levine and Dennis Hopper as the title characters in a romp around Hollywood.

    16mm / 1964 / 35 minutes

Blow Job is a silent film, directed by Andy Warhol, that was filmed in January 1964. It depicts the face of an uncredited DeVeren Bookwalter as he apparently receives fellatio from an unseen partner.

Print courtesy of the Circulating Film & Video Library/MoMA.
